Where our business listings come from
The tradespeople listed on RoundMate are compiled from publicly listed business information — the sort of details a business publishes so customers can find it, such as its trading name, service area, phone number, website and public Google rating.
We don't list private individuals, and we don't publish home addresses. A listing appearing here doesn't mean the business has signed up with us — most haven't yet.
If it's your business
You can claim your listing or have it removed, no questions asked. There's a link beside every phone number on the site, or email us directly and include the listing name.
Email hello@roundmate.co.ukWe'll action removals within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What happens to a booking request
When you send a booking request, we pass your name, email, phone (if you gave one), postcode and description of the job to that business so they can get back to you. That's the whole point of sending it — they need your details to reply.
We keep a copy so we can follow up on problems and see which trades people actually need. We don't sell your details, and we don't pass them to any business other than the one you chose.
Photos you upload
Photos are optional, and they help a tradesperson quote without visiting first. A photo you upload is stored at a long, randomly generated web address. It isn't listed or searchable anywhere, but anyone who has that exact link can open it — so please avoid including anything you'd rather keep private, such as documents, number plates or windows onto your street.
What we measure
We record what people search for, which trade it matched, the outward part of the postcode (for example CM23, never the full postcode) and whether a call button was tapped. This is how we learn that “gutters overflowing” means a window cleaner. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@roundmate.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
One thing we're not
RoundMate is a directory, not a vetting service. We don't check qualifications, insurance or certification, and a listing here isn't a recommendation. For gas work always check the Gas Safe Register, and for electrical work ask to see the trader's competent-person scheme registration.
Smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide? Leave the building and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 — free, 24 hours.
